After they had a solar power system installed at their Gardiner home last year, they looked for ways to maximize the usefulness of the system. That’s when George started reading up on air-source heat pumps, which run on electric power and have become very efficient over the past few years.
When George discovered the Central Hudson rebate for heat pumps, he chose a local SavingsCentral Trade Ally to do the work. They had four energy efficient heat pumps installed, each with its own remote, for each zone of the house. After the installation they received a $2,400 check from Central Hudson—one $600 rebate for each unit.
“The beauty of the air-source heat pump is that we are also getting air conditioning in the summer,” George explained. “The whole system reverses—it takes the hot air that is in the house and pumps it outside.”
