Susan Aiello is a LEED AP who's certified by New York State and the National Council for Interior Design Certification. Aiello is a member of U.S. Green Building Council and ASID with over 25 years of experience. Aiello will also be the judge at the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon in Washington D.C. from Sept. 23 to Oct. 2.

Aiello says she creates designs that "stand the test of time" because they are "classic" and designed "to be durable and easy to maintain."
"I create serene, comfortable and supportive environments that I believe have a positive impact on people's lives," Aiello said.
Aiello pushes to spread the message of going green and the health, monetary, and safety benefits that accompany sustainable products. She writes a blog on sustainable design and construction (www.idsgreen.com).
Aiello's most recent project is a pre-war apartment (see slideshow) that illustrates that sustainable design does not limit stylistic options, she said.
"As a matter of fact, I believe that classic design in keeping with the architecture is more sustainable than anything that focuses on the 'latest and greatest' new material," Aiello said.
